SAN FRANCISCO WINE SCHOOL LAUNCHES GLANCY WINE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUMMER SERIES 2017
South San Francisco, California (June 8, 2017) San Francisco Wine School has something for everyone this summer from casual enthusiasts to the most serious pros. Wine lovers of all types will enjoy the exciting Summer Series line-up of experiences and events with new additions such as Wine “Playing” Meals, Cellar Nights and Wine Bazaars and old favorites such as Wine Weekend Movie Matinees and Edu-tasting Seminars.
For students looking for more rigorous learning experiences and aspiring to earn industry-recognized credentials, San Francisco Wine School is thrilled to announce the launch of the much-anticipated Glancy Wine Education Fund, where students looking to start or advance their career in wine or hospitality will have access to over $40,000 in scholarships for wine education to help them pursue their personal and professional goals.
GLANCY WINE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
San Francisco Wine School believes that every motivated and engaged student should have access to high quality, professional education in their trade. Since their inception, they have been providing tuition assistance to worthy students and are thrilled to offer financial support for the next generation of industry leaders.
Last fall, San Francisco Wine School raised over $40,000 to establish the Glancy Wine Education Fund which is now offering scholarships of up to $5,000 each to students looking to start or advance a career in wine or hospitality and planning to enroll in a San Francisco Wine School Program before December 31, 2017. Coursework must be completed by December 31, 2018. Awards will be announced in August and will be based upon financial need and cost of coursework and in consideration of academic performance and work experience as well as educational and career goals. Candidates may apply via the Glancy Wine Education Scholarship Application by June 30, 2017. Cellar Nights – Come Raid the SFWS Cellar of over 600 different selections at this Pop-up Blind Wine Tasting Bar select Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Master Sommelier David Glancy will be choosing a different theme each week. Casual enthusiasts can mingle and nibble and explore the wines without preconceptions of what they should or shouldn’t like. Serious students can dare to analyze the wines and make a conclusion. The winner takes home a prize but everyone will leave happy!
Tasting Tuesdays & Thirsty Thursdays – Beef up your wine knowledge for that summer trip abroad or indulge yourself in a mini stay-cation by taking a virtual tour and tasting through your favorite wine regions & topics. Whether you’re diving into blind tasting technique, learning about the most celebrated food & wine pairings, or exploring a specific region or varietal, you’ll love these casual, fun and informative edu-tastings!
Wine Weekends – These all-day celebrations are focused on YOUR favorite topics and varietals! Enjoy Casual Edu-tastings, themed Wine Bazaars, Food & Wine Playing Experiences, Wine Movie Matinees, Pairing Competitions and Walk-Around Tastings.
