Wines of Lake County & The Sierra
FROM LAKE TO FOOTHILLS: These two distinct regions host some of the oldest soils and vines in California. Discover these off the beaten path wine regions and their unique claim to fame.
Description
The Lake County and The Sierra class acquaints students with the distinctive Lake County region, from the high altitude vineyards above one of America’s oldest geothermal lakes to the first single winery AVA. Next we travel the roads of the 49ers to the multitude of counties in the Sierra Foothills. Uncover the various concentrations of wineries and determine the importance of the soil, elevation, climate and grape varieties grown.

This class is part of the California Wine Appellation Specialist® certification program. Your tuition can be applied to the cost of the program if you would like to continue on. If you sign up for the entire series, discounts apply and payment plans are available. Format & Location
Hybrid - Room/Zoom
Our Hybrid Room/Zoom experience allows each individual to choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit. Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class. You will receive the zoom link and any handouts needed a few days before class via email. Check spam and contact help@sfwineschool.com if you have not received it within 1 business day of your class/event.
If you have a tasting kit, it may be picked up at San Francisco Wine School or delivered across the US. Wine parameter lists are available for those participating in locations where kits cannot be delivered. View pickup and delivery options here.
