How do the wines of Paso Robles stack up against the rest of the world? Let's find out! Join San Francisco Wine School and the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance for an 8-wine blind tasting comparing four of Paso Robles' most important grapes and blends and relative newcomers against four same varietal / similar blend wines from other notable regions in the US and internationally. Each set of wines will be of comparable quality and the point will not be to show what region is best, but to gain a deeper understanding of the grapes, styles, and competition around the globe. In each flight, we'll examine the origins of the grapes, globally important regions, soils and climate differences from Paso as well as the resulting differences & similarities in quality & style. We'll also discuss what are Paso's most widely grown grapes and what grapes are likely to be more important in the future.
This session is ideal for those working in the Paso Robles wine trade who want to learn how to talk to guests with more global awareness and consider new growing and production ideas for the future.
This in-person trade event at Niner Wine Estates in Paso Robles will be hosted by Master Sommelier and Founder of San Francisco Wine School, David Glancy. David is one of only 12 people in the world to hold both the revered Master Sommelier Diploma and the rigorous Certified Wine Educator credential. The seated tasting and seminar is included in San Francisco Wine School's Paso Road Trip but is the only portion that is open to the wider Paso Robles wine community.
