WSET Levels 1, 2, & 3 by Grape Experience

A WINE INDUSTRY ACHIEVEMENT: Immerse yourself in every major wine region and earn all three valuable Global Wine credentials with Grape Experience, the most experienced provider of WSET certifications on the West Coast!

WSET Level 1 is a day-long intensive program that is geared to anyone with an interest in wine for personal enjoyment or launching a professional career.  The course provides a systematized way of learning about and tasting wine, focusing on knowledge that is practical, hands-on, and designed to build a foundation for future exploration. The course will introduce you to basics of wine, broad different styles, simple storage and service rules, and easy techniques for pairing wine with a range of foods.

WSET Level 2 covers wines and spirits of the world. The focus is on how to professionally taste wine, factors that influence style, quality and price, and an in-depth review of major grape varieties and wine types. Wine tasting is a part of every session with over 40 wines tasted during the program.

WSET Level 3 course is one of the most globally-recognized achievements in the wine industry.
Level 3 Certificate is geared towards wine professionals or people interested in entering the wine industry, especially those looking for increased responsibility, leadership, and decision-making.  Wine enthusiasts with a serious commitment and passion will also enjoy this course, as it is interactive and customized to individual class dynamics and interests.

In this newly-revised program, we’ll embark on an in-depth examination—and systematic tasting program—of every major world wine region.  For each region we examine the soil, climate, viticulture and winemaking factors that impact wine style, quality, and price. We’ll also cover additional types of wine, including fortified and sparkling wines, as well as spirits and liqueurs. Systematic wine tasting is a part of every session, with more than 90 wines tasted in the course.

WSET Level 2 concludes with a one-hour, 50 multiple choice examination. Students who earn a passing score of 55% (27 correct answers) will receive a WSET Level 2 Award. Students who earn a score of 70% - 84% pass with Merit. Those who earn a score of 85% or above pass with Distinction

The exam for Level 3 is in two parts: A 30 minute blind wine tasting and then a 1 hour and 45 minute theory exam with multiple-choice and short answer questions.
