MASTER THE WINES OF FRANCE: An in depth program designed by the French Wine Society and endorsed by the French National Wine Office and the French Ministry of Agriculture.
The French Wine Scholar program provides students with a deep level of information on each wine region of France, helping students achieve a professional level of proficiency in French wine. The impact of history, the significance of geological events, the importance of topographical markers and the influence of climatic factors will be discussed.
Students will receive 33 hours of instruction and the official 280-page, full-color French Wine Scholar study manual, in addition to 1 full year of access to the French Wine Scholar Online.

GUIDED BLIND TASTING EXERCISES
Students will taste over 80 French wines to bring learning objectives to life and practice blind tasting techniques. All wines are selected by Master Sommelier David Glancy and our instructors to represent a broad sampling of the classic wines of France.

ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION & EXAM
Wine professionals who follow this in-depth curriculum and pass the exam earn the French Wine Scholar (FWS) post-nominal and will receive a certificate and official lapel pin. In order to prepare properly, you must read and study the FWS manual carefully.
The curriculum and teaching materials for the French Wine Scholar Program are the same regardless of whether you study in California or Calgary. Our industry leading instructors will make the difference in your learning experience. While the average pass rate for the rigorous FWS exam is only 65%, San Francisco Wine School has been recognized by the French Wine Society multiple times for a 100% pass rate.
