Learn why Champagne is unique among the world's sparkling wine producing regions and why it has become the world-class luxury good that it is. This week explores the in-depth history, geography, climate and wines of Champagne, the world's most famous sparkling wine region, and northernmost fine wine region of France.
This individual class is the first of 12 classes in the French Wine Scholar certification program and is available for à la carte registration. This is a great way to preview the program. Your class fees can be applied to the cost of the full series if you would like to continue on. *Please note that for this class, there will be a different wine selection for Roomers and Zoomers due to the fact that sparkling wines do not preserve well in tasting kits and there is a limited selection of sparkling wines available in 187ml bottles. If you are interested in purchasing full or half bottles from us or elsewhere to supplement the selections we provide, please contact help@sfwineschool.com.
Format & Location
Hybrid - Room/Zoom
Our Hybrid Room/Zoom experience allows each individual to choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit. Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class. You will receive the zoom link and any handouts needed a few days before class via email. Check spam and contact help@sfwineschool.com if you have not received it within 1 business day of your class/event.
If you have a tasting kit, it may be picked up at San Francisco Wine School or delivered across the US. Wine parameter lists are available for those participating in locations where kits cannot be delivered. View pickup and delivery options here.
