The primary role will be working out of our state-of-the-art wine education center in South San Francisco. This person will be greeting, answering questions and engaging with current and prospective students, checking people in for class, managing classroom set-up and logistics, and event planning. Interaction is in-person, by phone, email, & Gorgias chat. Post class follow-up and documentation in customer record management software are also routinely part of the duties.
This Jack or Jill of all trades will also have their hands in admissions, marketing, accounting and class logistics. The position requires outstanding computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Google Productivity Tools. Experience with Shopify, SalesForce, and Gorgias is a plus. Superb organizational, project management along with strong verbal and writing skills are critical. While experience matters, your skills, talent, brains, creativity, energy, motivation, character and work ethic are more important.
Must be able to commute and travel to the school and surrounding area offsite events. Evening, daytime, and weekend class support needed at times. Job Summary
As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for curating the wine list, providing wine recommendations, and ensuring exceptional dining experiences for guests.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage the restaurant's wine list
- Advise guests on wine selection to complement their meals
- Maintain proper storage conditions for wines
- Participate in wine tasting trainings
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed
Experience
- Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant or upscale establishment, preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of different grape varieties, regions, and vintages
- Familiarity with POS systems like Toast POS
- Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell and increase revenue
