Seeking Passionate Wine Hospitalitarians to sell & serve wine in our new 3-night a week bar. Successful candidates will have lots of passion, positive energy, wine knowledge, and the desire to share what they know with others.
Organization, the ability to multi-task, & experience with Point-of-Sale systems is also helpful. Additionally, we need great communicators who make complex topics simple, take the intimidation out of wine and inspire beginner to advanced guests to explore. We need ambassadors who sell wine in the bar, bring new guests into our fan base, & cross-sell classes & events.

Location: The Secret Wine Bar at San Francisco Wine School, South San Francisco, CA
Hours: Availability is solicited 1-2 months at a time and schedules are assigned 1-2 weeks in advance.
Regular weekly schedules is the goal. Additional work is possible preparing charcuterie platters and assisting in bar service, as well as other hospitality/event shifts and potentially as instructors.
Wages: $20+/hr commensurate with experience and credentials Plus Tips. Highly credentialed instructors are eligible to earn higher wages.
Benefits: Government mandated including health insurance when full-time + employee discounts on classes, special events and retail wine purchases. Tuition reimbursement for certifications taken to expand teaching eligibility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Stock the bar & retail area with wine from the cellar.
Complete opening inventory and check list.
Display last bottles & background images on the monitors.
Place signage outside the bar, launch music & adjust lighting.
Have the bar guest-ready prior to opening.
Warmly welcome guests & guide them through the regularly changing wine selections.
Talk about wine, wine classes, & events whenever guests are open to it.
Make all guests feel at home.
Serve wines by the glass, charcuterie boards, & retail wines for here & to-go.
Maintain guest tabs and collect payments.
Break down the bar at the end of the night completing closing inventory and check list.
Skills Required:
The HOSPITALITY gene
Solid international wine knowledge with credentials preferred.
Prior service experience preferred, including: wine bar, serving, bartending, or other retail.
Knowledge or experience with San Francisco Wine School or some aspect of various wine credentials.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with management, peers, and guests
Prior experience with Point-of-Sale systems is helpful.
