Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Masterclass

Please join us as we discover one of Italy’s most captivating and misunderstood wine regions.

This tiny area — just 18 square miles spread across the steep, pre-alpine foothills of the Dolomites between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene — is where Antonio Carpenè first produced sparkling wines with the word Prosecco on the label, in the late 19th century, and it continues to be home to some four hundred artisanal producers and over two thousand growers.

The wines that come from these hills are made with autochthonous varieties, hand—cultivated on stony soils in impossibly steep vineyards, and ultimately produced as transparent expressions of single sites (known as ‘Rive’ in the region). They are truly wines of place, and are worlds away from the more anonymous wines made in the endless flats of the DOC zone that stretches across the alluvial plain of the Piave river.

Come along with us as we explore the nuances of this dynamic and wonderful region. Advanced Sommelier and regional expert,  Marissa Kipp, will be on-hand to walk us through the various terroirs and winemaking-styles found in this dramatic landscape and has prepared a flight of compelling wines from the region’s leading producers.

About Marissa Kipp:

Marissa Kipp is an Advanced Sommelier pursuing her Master Sommelier certification, bringing exceptional depth and expertise to wine education. She also holds the certifications of Certified Specialist of Wine with the Society of Wine Educators, French Wine Scholar and Bourgogne Master with the Wine Scholar Guild, and her Diploma with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust.  Her advanced certifications reflect years of dedicated study and hands-on experience, positioning her as a qualified educator and helping her beverage consulting business on the side. In addition to her academic pursuits, Marissa has worked in nearly every sector in the three-tier system, giving her a well-rounded approach to the industry. Marissa is currently a Project Manager with Marq Wine Group, specializing in working with wine regions and countries to expand their market position and create category growth in the US through long-term market strategy implementation.
