Our California Wine Appellation Specialist® (CWAS) online education program provides flexibility, convenience, and freedom while saving students money and time in today’s fast paced world. Regardless of geographic location, the school’s highly credentialed instructors will facilitate an engaging learning experience, while students have the opportunity to interact with other wine professionals around the world.

This online wine education program invites students to experience original research on California wine landscapes and features important topics critical to the success of today’s wine professionals. Given that wines from California are responsible for a large majority of sales at the trade and consumer level, earning this credential will set students apart in the increasingly competitive wine industry labor market.

The California Wine Appellation Specialist® online wine education program is divided into eight significant and distinctive courses, covering detailed and critical information on the wine appellations of California. The online classroom includes various presentations, web-based tutorials, video lectures, weekly assignments, interactive online discussions with the instructor and classmates, and course assessments.

Program participation includes tasting, or having access to, up to 16 California wines. Wines may vary dependent upon selection, location, and availability. Full bottle purchases are estimated to cost close to $400 in total. Purchases by the glass or half bottle are recommended when available. Local and online tasting groups are encouraged!
