This 2-Day Somm Intensive is taking place in conjunction with SommCon at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, CA as a pre-conference certification opportunity, however you do not need to participate in SommCon in order to attend. The program will end in time to participate in the SommCon opening and general session.
This fast-paced, comprehensive, 2-day program focuses on important foundational areas for personal and professional success including global wine theory, blind wine tasting analysis, food & wine pairing, and professional wine service techniques. Written and led by Master Sommelier David Glancy, this class is perfect for students studying for beginning and intermediate level sommelier exams and those who want to improve their performance on the job. Taste 24 wines throughout the program.
It includes Society of Wine Educators' Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certification Exam. You can also test your service & tasting knowledge with 2 Exam Ad-on options.
Students looking for a slower pace, deeper study of these topics, or a more comprehensive look at all aspects of the beverage industry should consider our Somm Essentials curriculum.

Your 2-Day Somm certification comes with Society of Wine Educators' Hospitality Beverage Specialist Study Guide, Online Access to Course and Exam Fee. Exam is taken online at your convenience within one year of program. Passing this entry level exam earns Society of Wine Educators' Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certification.
Important Note: unlike our full Somm Essentials Certification program, the 2-Day Somm Intensive program does not include education on beer, sake, spirits, coffee, tea, & bottled water and additional self-study will be required to pass this exam.
Successful completion of the following exams in addition to the HBSC exam will result in the Somm Essentials Certification conferred by San Francisco Wine School
Detailed performance feedback will be provided with exam results.
