Description

Not as dramatically rugged as the northern wine regions of Portugal, the Centeral-Southern wine regions of Portugal show us clearly the spectacular contrast between the Coast and the Interior. While much of the nation’s architecture dates to the 1500s–1800s, when Portugal had a powerful maritime empire, the southern cities and villages are stamped with Roman and Moorish architecture.  The wines seem to mirror the endless vistas, cool beaches and toasty inland rolling hills with an intriguing salinity found on the Coastal wines and supple juiciness and concentration of fruit in the Interior.  There’s much to be explored and over 250 native gapes to be discovered and enjoyed. The diversity found here will sure delight those willing to explore!

San Francisco Wine School proudly invites you to journey with Wines of Portugal into the past, the present and the future of Portugal's old and fascinating wine culture and taste a broad selection of their treasures.  This is the second of a 2-part series.  Join Part 1 on Sept 18th as we explore northern to central Portugal.
