San Francisco Wine School Does SommCon 2016!

San Francisco Wine School Does SommCon 2016!

We had an amazing weekend in San Diego with luminaries from every facet of the industry as we convened on a cutting edge line-up of topics with speakers and educators from across the globe.  We learned, tasted, ate, drank, and enjoyed meeting with old friends and new!

Kistler for days: Delicious Kistler Welcome Dinner on Wednesday night with Geoff Labitzke, MW of Kistler at Marina Kitchen.  This was the perfect start to an amazing weekend!

SommCon kicked off on Thursday bright and early as David Glancy taught a mini component tasting course to a sold out crowd. Somms really can get up at 8am!

Understanding the most fundamental components of wine is a huge aid in blind tasting technique.  Here, David draws from his Structure & Aroma Component Tasting curriculum, part of the proprietary Advanced Tasting program offered at San Francisco Wine School.

Thursday also included a Blind Tasting with the Masters: Master Sommeliers David Glancy, Joseph Spellman, Eric Entrikin, and Eric Hemer.

Wine Lunch on Thursday was MC'd by David Glancy and sponsored by Napa Valley Vintners with Keynote Speakers: Ian Cauble, MS, DLynn Proctor, and Pam Dillon.

Ran into our friends from El Cielo in Baja at "
Millennials Love Blends . . . Is this Contributing to the Strategic Emergence of Baja Wines?" Enjoyed their wines and incredible Baja Med dinner at Bracero Cocina later that night.

Australia: Old Vines - Classic Wines with Matt Stamp, MS. How old is an old vine?

On Friday, Wine Lunch was MC'd by David Glancy and sponsored by Wines of Alsace, with Keynote Speaker Rajeev Vaidya.

Beyond the Floor:  David paneling at
SommCon with Evan Goldstein, MS and Wendy Shoemaker, AS about somms building careers outside of restaurants.

History of Craft Beer with some Industry Veterans!

Grand Tasting at SommCon with over 100 Tables!

We love being a part of this flourishing industry and watching the continuous growth and achievement of our talented peers.  We can't to see what SommCon 2017 has in store!
