Developed by Master Sommelier David Glancy, this 6-workshop series is designed to enhance your blind wine analysis techniques using some of the trickiest flights that exist! Serious enthusiasts and professional wine students will learn important techniques to help them differentiate between commonly confused varietals and regional influences. As a group you will identify common threads and figure out key differences. Drills will include an emphasis on focus, timing, descriptions and conclusions. Perfect for those preparing for upper level exams and competitions! It combines elements of the Court of MS technique, WSET & MW and is also very helpful for CWE, or to simply better understand wine.Take the full program or just the workshops you need. Check out the syllabus below.

  1. High Acid, Unoaked Whites
Hone your identification skills as you tackle challenging flights of both neutral white wines and intensely herbal whites to discover and profile the similarities and differences between varietals. Global wine regions are also considered as you decipher the differences between regional and varietal influences.
  2. Aromatic Whites
Discover how to identify and profile the similarities and differences between aromatic dry to off-dry light- to full-bodied white wines in the most challenging flights. Global wine regions are also considered as you decipher the differences between regional and varietal influences.
  3. Thin-Skinned Reds
Identify and profile the similarities and differences in wines from thin-skinned red grapes in the most challenging flights. Global wine regions are also considered as you learn to decipher the differences between regional and varietal influences.
  4. Thick-Skinned Reds
Tackle the most challenging flights of wines from thick-skinned red grapes. Explore examples from jammy to tannic to identify the similarities and differences in each grape and discuss the major regions globally and as you learn to decipher the differences in regional versus varietal identity.
  5. Bubbles, Botrytis & Fortified Wines
The most challenging flights of sparkling, fortified and non-fortified dessert wines are compared as you learn to identify the similarities and differences in each wine and discuss the major regions and styles globally. Decipher what differences are derived from grape variety, terroir, vineyard practices, winemaking or aging.
  6. Timing & Technique Drills
In this workshop students are guided to be fast, fluid tasters. Students will continue to practice their improved blind tasting skills using various techniques and drills to sharpen their focus and improve their timing. Learn about exam preparation and test-taking strategies to work smarter not harder.

Hybrid - Room/Zoom

We've recently invested in some serious AV technology upgrades to create an integrated Hybrid Room/Zoom experience for all students, so each individual can choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit.  Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class.  Learn more...
