Costa di Bussia Barolo 2018
Description
Even with the longest aging requirement in Italy, Barolo wines are tight in their youth. But they blossom with a decade of aging, especially when paired with truffles & buttered pasta. Costa de Bussia began in 1874 & is still run by the family. Their 11-acre Nebbiolo vineyard in Monforte d’Alba is a slope (Hill of Bussia) with mixed clay-marl-sandstone soils & vines averaging 30 years old.
Style: dry, red | Grape: 100% Nebbiolo | Vineyard: 30 years average age of vines | Region: Piemonte, Italy | Aging: 18 months in big Slavonian oak barrels plus 30 months bottle age prior to release | Pairs with: Gorgonzola & pancetta gnocchi, steak with Gorgonzola butter, & more | Alcohol: 14% | Retail: $51
