Explore Franciacorta, the most prestigious Italian sparkling wine region through a Master Class, a guided tasting and a pairing luncheon on November 6th at San Francisco Wine School. Franciacorta is a sparkling wine produced in the Province of Brescia in Lombardy, in northern Italy. Since 1995 the sparkling wines of this region have held DOCG status, the most prestigious wine classification in Italy. Franciacorta is also the name of the compact area resembling a large amphitheater on Lake Iseo shores. The proximity of Lake Iseo moderates the climate while the surrounding hills protect the region from wind and frost. Over six different soil types have been identified in the region, however, the majority of the soils are morainic and were laid down by glaciers that formed the lakes and valleys thousands of years ago.
Laura Donadoni, Franciacorta U.S. brand Ambassador and wine educator will host the Masterclass, disclosing all the features and the peculiarities of these metodo classico wines.
Tuesday, November 6th, 11am-2pm
