Description
So much has changed in Spanish wine in recent years! Join us for an overview of Spanish wine history, wine laws, geography, climate, grape varieties, viticulture and winemaking.
Then, we'll explore Txakolina and the rest of Pais Vasco (Basque Country) and their fresh wines and unique history.
Finally, we take a dive deep into the wine region of La Rioja. Rioja’s wine culture represents a composite of tradition and modernity. Rioja is one of Spain’s first demarcated wine regions, yet it continues to reinvent itself. It has set itself apart as one of the world’s greatest wine-producing areas and has maintained that allure for centuries. It is largely responsible for the growth of Spain’s wine reputation around the wine world. It is also the country’s most recognizable wine region by consumers around the globe. Find out why!
This workshop is the first of 8 classes in the Spanish Wine Scholar program and is available for la carté registration. This is a great way to preview the program. If you decide to continue, your workshop fee will be credited towards the full program tuition and payment plans are available.
As part of this workshop, you'll taste 6-8 wines related to the curriculum.

Format & Location
Hybrid - Room/Zoom
Our Hybrid Room/Zoom experience allows each individual to choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit. Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class.
