The last session in the program presents a dynamic overview of this exceptional region that produces some of the most desired wines of the world. Proximity to the Pacific Ocean, varied mesoclimates, and a long growing season make a great combination. Conclude your knowledge with being able to understand and articulate the importance of the Humboldt Current, the Coriolis Effect, and Transverse Range. Santa Barbara County is much more than Sideways! Going beyond Santa Barbara learn about California wine’s southern origins and the many small AVAs and producers of the South Coast.
Want to learn more about California wine now? Watch Master Sommelier David Glancy in our educational videos filmed for Wine Institute and Discover California Wine.
This workshop is the first part of the California Wine Appellation Specialist® program. Your tuition can be applied to the cost of the program if you would like to continue on. If you sign up for the entire series, discounts apply and payment plans are available. Those who would like to attend workshops online and forgo the wine tastings can apply SKIPTHEWINE at checkout to many online workshops for 40% off. SEE ALL WEBONLY WORKSHOPS
Hybrid - Room/Zoom
We've recently invested in some serious AV technology upgrades to create an integrated Hybrid Room/Zoom experience for all students, so each individual can choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit. Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class.
