This fast-paced, comprehensive 2-day intensive program focuses on important foundational areas for personal and professional success including global wine theory, blind wine tasting analysis, food & wine pairing, and professional wine service techniques. Taught by Master Sommelier David Glancy, this class is perfect for students studying for beginning and intermediate level sommelier exams and those who want to improve their performance on the job. Taste 30 wines throughout the program.

Guided Tasting Exercises

Wine and food for food lab is included in this program.  Students will taste flight combinations selected by Master Sommelier David Glancy and our Cellar Master to bring learning objectives to life and practice your tasting techniques. 

Roomers will have wine in their glass in the classroom.  Zoomers will have tasting kits they can either pickup or have delivered for an additional fee.  View wine pickup and delivery options.

Optional Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certification (HBSC) Exam 

Passing this entry level online, on-demand theory exam earns Society of Wine Educators' Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certification. 

Important Note: unlike our full Somm Essentials program, the 2-Day Somm Intensive program does not include education on beer, sake, spirits, coffee, tea, & bottled water and additional self-study will be required to pass this exam.

Optional Three-Part Somm Essentials Certification Exam + HBSC Exam

Successful completion of the following exams:

  • Part 1 - Physical Service

All attendees must be at least 21 years of age.  We recommend students complete Wine 101Intro to Blind Tasting, or the equivalent prior to taking this program.
