2-Day Somm Intensive: Theory, Tasting & Service



This fast-paced, comprehensive 2-day intensive focuses on important foundational areas for personal and professional success including global wine theory, blind wine tasting analysis, food & wine pairing, and professional wine service techniques. Taught by Master Sommelier David Glancythis class is perfect for students studying for beginning and intermediate level sommelier exams and those who want to improve their performance on the job. Taste 30 wines throughout the program.

SYLLABUS

This 2-Day course can be broken into two stand-alone a la carte days, or taken as a complete program.  

Day 1: Tasting & Service Intensive

9am-11am        Blind Tasting Technique
11am-1pm        Food & Wine Pairing Lab**

1:45-5:30pm     Proper Wine, Decanting & Sparkling Techniques and Service

Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certification (HBSC) Exam 
Taken online on demand via Society of Wine Educators.  (Additional self study will be required for beer, sake, spirits, coffee, tea, & bottled waters).

Three Part Somm Essentials Certification Exam
Successful completion of Part 1 - Physical Service, Part 2 - Food Pairing, and Part 3 - Blind Tasting along with successful completion of the Online Hospitality Beverage Specialist Certificate will result in the Somm Essentials Certification.  Email help@sfwineschool.com for available exam dates.

REQUIREMENTS & RECOMMENDATIONS
All attendees must be at least 21 years of age.  We recommend students complete Wine 101, Intro to Blind Tasting, or the equivalent prior to taking this program.
