Taste the Newest Trending Wine Category... that's 8,000 years old!
What is Natural Wine and, by extension, what would make other wines unnatural? How does this differ from Sustainable, Organic, and Biodynamic wine? Learn how these plus Pet Nats and Orange Wines (aka Amber Wines or Skin Contact Whites) are connected or not.
In this 2-hour class, we'll learn the vagaries of this largely unregulated Natural Wine category and what most have in common. We'll also explore the origin of all wines and when & where the new wave of interest in these old techniques took off. As we begin to understand the category and the sub-categories and offshoots, we'll taste different grapes and styles of Natural Wine from around the world.
This class is eye-opening for natural wine lovers and a must for wine pros and those studying for certification exams. It includes a blind tasting of 6 wines with your registration fee.
This class may be taken as part of our Wine Styles of the World Series or individually à la carte. Your class fees can be applied to the cost of the full series if you would like to continue on. Format & Location
Hybrid - Room/Zoom
Our Hybrid Room/Zoom experience allows each individual to choose to participate in-person as a "Roomer" with wine in their glass or online as a "Zoomer" with a custom tasting kit. Both Roomers and Zoomers have the same wines and are able to engage with us and each other during these live classes. Recordings are also available within 1 business day after the class. If you have a tasting kit, it may be picked up at San Francisco Wine School or delivered across the US. Wine parameter lists are available for those participating in locations where kits cannot be delivered. View pickup and delivery options here.
